Police make arrest in brutal assault of 73 year old flower shop owner.
The incident happened on November 8.
Pat White, 73, was brutally beaten as well as robbed and investigators say when she tried to give the man what he wanted he beat her unconscious.
The owner of the Red n Gold Florist in Forest Park was working alone when a man walked in with a knife and demanded money. Mayor David Lockhart says White opened the cash register, but it wasn't enough.
“He was upset it wasn't more and he commenced to beat her unconscious and so badly her eye socket has been completely destroyed,” said Lockhart.
White has been a florist in Forest Park for decades and many, including the mayor, have fond memories of buying flowers from the shop.
Police have arrested 18-year-old Juwanza Hoard.
Giuliani Explodes over Black Crime: Wouldn’t Need White Cops ‘If You Weren’t Killing Each Other’
Jackson, Miss. -
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani claimed that attention focused on disproportionately white police forces in minority-heavy communities obscured the problem of black-on-black violence, which got a rise out of professor and MSNBC contributor Michael Eric Dyson, who argued Giuliani was engaged in a massive false equivalency.
“First of all, most black people who commit crimes against other black people go to jail,” Dyson said. “Number two, they are not sworn by the police department as agents of the state to uphold the law….White people who kill black people do not go to jail.”
At that point Giuliani took off his glasses, which apparently is his sign that it’s time to rumble. “[Black on black crime] is the reason for the heavy police presence in the black community,” Giuliani claimed. “Why don’t you cut it down so so many white police officers don’t have to be in black areas?… The white police officers wouldn’t be there if you weren’t killing each other.”
“This is the defensive mechanism of white supremacy in your mind,” Dyson said.
ORLANDO, Fla. -
Orange County deputies are searching for the man caught on video beating and robbing a 62-year-old female clerk inside a Public Storage business on Wednesday morning.
An arrest has been made in the beating of a West Point man, Police Chief Tim Brinkley said.
Ralph Weems, 32, was critically injured after an assault in a restaurant parking lot Saturday morning, police said.
Monday evening, they arrested 22-year-old Courtez McMillian of Okolona. He is being held in the Clay County Detention Center and will be charged with aggravated assault.
Brinkley said other arrests are also pending, and that most, if not all of the assailants appear to come from Monroe County. Detectives are reviewing video footage of the incident.George Zimmerman has been declared “not guilty,” but he will never be free. America, too, will likely never be free of the Zimmerman case and those like it—the seemingly endless cycle of televised controversies that act as proxy race wars.
